Lionel studied Medicine in Burundi and completed an MSc in Tropical Medicine and International Health at the LondonSchool of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Lionel went on to work with the World Health Organization in Maputo-Mozambique and was actively involved in the country Covid-19 preparedness and response.
After a sabbatical year, he joined the WHO Angola country office where he serves as acting team lead for the emergency cluster.
