Leanne Fry is the National Manager, Innovation and Technology Solutions (Chief Information Officer)at AUSTRAC. She leads the analytics, innovation, development, information and infrastructure teams, and is responsible for ensuring AUSTRAC has the necessary advanced analytics and customer service capability in place to innovate. Working closely with industry and our partners, she leads AUSTRAC’s advanced innovation for both processes and products.
Leanne joined AUSTRAC in November 2015 to deliver Fintel Alliance, a ground-breaking public-private partnership. Formerly CIO and Chief Digital Officer at the Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman, Leanne is a digital leader with over 25 years’ senior executive experience in legal practice, governance and compliance, ICT, strategy, project delivery, and communications roles within Top 20 listed organisations across Legal, Publishing, Property and Financial Services.
Leanne has deep expertise in leading transformational change and delivering both capability and outcomes in complex environments, and extensive experience in managing and mitigating risk. She likes the challenge of developing high performing teams and leading creative approaches to opportunities and problem solving.
Leanne chaired the Public Sector Best Practices – Regulatory Frameworks and Implementation Committee at the Global Government AI Roundtable Summit in Dubai in 2018 and 2019. Her team was awarded a 2018 Public Sector Innovation Award for the inaugural ASEAN-Australia Codeathon, Australia’s first ever intelligence codeathon. She is actively engaged in digital literacy initiatives through the Web Science community and has co-developed a series of workshops for Boards and executives on the ‘Digital Future’. She speaks frequently on the challenges of digital disruption and cyber security.
She has been involved in foster care most of her life and is parent to a teenage daughter and den mother to two four legged family members.
